I was Punted in Oxford

Last weekend a group of us took a trip to Oxford for the day. Just walking around, I felt smarter. Although, I don't know if I'd ever want to go to school there, apparently it's hard.

Oxford University is divided up into 50 colleges, including St. Hilda's, the last all women's college
in Oxford (though not for much longer) where Jenny went to school for a year.

All Souls is the super secretive graduate school. There are rumours about secret societies and all sorts of things, which I wouldn't doubt are true. I'll let you know when I get accepted.

Punting is the thing to do when in Oxford. It's lovely, and feels very high class collegiate. A punt is a flat bottomed boat, like a gondola, and the punter stands at the front
(the Cambridge side) or the back (the Oxford side) to punt the boat down the river. I didn't punt our boat because, with the boots I had on, I would have fallen into the freezing water. But Alex and Jenny took turns punting Triona and I down the river. We had a really beautiful day for it.

The other punt had some problems at the beginning, but they eventually got the hang of it.

We stopped for a pub lunch at The King's Arms, and the food was actually really good. It was incredibly crowded, but had a nice atmosphere about it.

Our last stop of the day was to Christ's Church for Evensong.  The Evensong was lovely, although I prefer it at St. Paul's Cathedral. There is only a men's choir for the Christ's Church Evensong.
Christ's Church is also where scenes from Harry Potter was filmed. But apparently you're not allowed to take pictures. The group of us walked to the staircase, which was out in the open, it didn't even require opening a door. So when I was told that the staircase was used in Harry Potter, I took pictures. Then a mean troll of a man, a "guard" for the college (aka a bulldog) came out of no where and ripped my camera out of my hands and grunted at all of us to get out. You know, all he had to do was tell us not to take pictures. No wonder they're called bulldogs. And no worries, I got my camera back. But now I'm seriously considering not attending Oxford.

Oh, but I did get a picture of the staircase.
