Highlights of the South Bank

The South Bank is one of my favorite places in London to hang out. It's cultural, and lively, and I know a lot of people prefer the East End, but I would much rather spend the day hanging around the South Bank. I really do enjoy hanging around the Thames, completely anonymous, pretending I'm an ex-patriot writing the next great American/English novel. The novel may never happen, but at least I've gotten some good pictures out of my time.

Memorial for Arthur Sullivan (as in Gilbert and Sullivan). It's a bust of him with his muse crying over his death. I think it's one of the better memorials I've seen.

Flowers and Cleopatra's Needle in the background.

There are parts of poems on a few stone blocks along the Thames. There's one with a part of T.S. Eliot's Wasteland, but I guess I missed that one.

There's a spot next to the National Theatre where skateboarders hang out and skate. It's covered in graffiti and looks really cool. I almost wish I knew how to skateboard.

Sir Lawrence Olivier outside the National Theatre. The National Theatre houses three theatres, including the Lawrence Olivier Theatre, which apparently is massive and cavernous.

It's a great area and definitely worth checking out.
